Worked on a gift for a co-worker who just recently had a baby. He and his wife have been trying for years to have a child and their prayers were answered. Quite a few of us at work are so happy for them....Baby Madelyn was born on Sept 21st. She was only 4 lbs 4 oz.. She is SOOO TINY....Here's a phone pix of her little foot.
So you know I had to do what every quilter does when there is a new arrival... I had to make her a quilt *giggle*. I wanted to try out the 90 Degree Strip Ruler, that my S-I-L, bought me as a gift for a quilt I helped her with... I figure this was the perfect time to test drive it.
The ruler is made by Creative Grids, was very easy to use. I put 2.5 inch strips together from four fabrics and some cream...
After playing with the pieces I cut with the ruler, I chose this layout. Which I think is adorable and super sweet...which is perfect for an angel like Madelyn. :)
Was thinking about putting the m on the front of the quilt to personalize it for her...
but couldn't.. I just love the front the way it is TOO much. So Pretty.
SO instead... I decided to piece the back...and think I LOVE it Just as much as the Front..*giggle*
I machine quilted it with a Giant meandering stitch.. figure it will be going through the wash a lot. I used the same backing fabric for binding.. and went ahead and machine stitched the binding on.. It worked great!
It finishes at about 31 inches square...I probably should have put a border on it to make it a tad bit bigger, so I hope I am not going to be disappointed when it comes out of the dryer... If It shrinks too much... I guess it'll be an awesome wall quilt when she grows out of it.. *grin*
Happy quilting and Thanks for stopping by...
