Quilty LOVE

Okay I have received all my February Bee blocks and am in LOVE with this quilt... I need some feed back though.... WHICH way to set the squares... Do I float the blocks with NO sashing?

 OR

Do I add a 1/2 inch sashing in between each of the blocks?  I Like them both ways, so I am looking for feedback.. This project has been great fun to get ready for.

I am also working on some more bee blocks, this time from the Sunday Morning Quilts Book.  The inspiration quilt is called "Missing U", and instead of using bright bold colors that the book used.. I am toning this quilt down and using it for my living room.  Here are four of the blocks so far... Lots more expected to appear in my mail box... blacks, browns, creams and gray are on the agenda... A few of my fellow bee members have mentioned it is going to be an elegant scrappy quilt. *giggle*  I think I agree.

I also worked a bit on my Wonky Quilt... I have a few more blocks I am waiting for from people...and I plan to make a few more blocks as well, but I couldn't resist sewing together what I have so far... Here's my Wonky Bee Quilt so far...

What a Fun Spring-y Quilt... Can't wait for our weather to start warming up.

Hugs and Happy Quilting..Till Next Time...

I think the sashing does add a little something, BUT I love how they are all free floating!

I like it without sashing...lets the design "float". More modern looking without sashing. NICE top!

Lovely blocks!

I think I like option 2 best. I really thought don't mess with option 1 but now I really like option 2...LOL

Your wonky quilt is sooo soooo cool to look at! I'd just spend my time staring at it! :)

If it were mine (and oh how I wish it WAS)...I would keep it FREE and easy - No sashing...What great blocks!!! Especially love that one punch with the red bg and grey heart!

The sashing seams to break up the overall picture to me. LOVE this design!

I love the flow without the borders! They seem more free. Love this quilt, can't wait to see it finished!

I personally would go with out the sashing as it makes the hearts the focus. I think it makes it look more like a whole quilt rather than a block quilt. However, if you are trying to emphasise the blocks rather than the hearts then go with the sashing.

I like the sashing. It's beautiful!!

The sashing adds a punch to the quilt and it made the red block pop out. It's more grounded. Without sashing, it looks more soft and wispy. Your eyes float around. So it depends on what you are going for. If it were my quilt, I would go without. It makes it a more interesting quilt.

Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind. *wink*

It is a beauty!!

I think it's great both ways Christine. But the floating hearts, floats my boat!

Just say no to sashing...for the heart quilt anyway...love the floating freedom they display without the sashing.

Since you asked...I like the look without sashing.

At first I liked the floating stars, but on second look I would choose the sashing and add several borders. I like the idea of mixing the traditional sashing with inner & outer borders with the modern wonky placement of the hearts and colour theme. I would use a black inner border the same width as the sashing, and then maybe a grey outer border, and bind in red. That's my 2 cents!

I know I said it before but I have to say it again, I adore that quilt. I like the floating quilt. Yes the sashing is nice but so many quilts are made that way, I think the floating gives your quilt a special touch. LOVE the one red block! Just my 2 cents worth.

I like the sashing, but I *love* it without :) I would even play with turning some blocks a little so it looks like they're tumbling down ... Can't wait to see what you do with it.

I like it with the sashing. It seems to make the hearts pop. Either way you decide, it will be pretty.
