Here's a Supply List...
Main print... a 30.5 inch square piece of fabric...
You can fussy cut or use yardage any way you want.
(3) 1/4 yard cuts of fabric for the coordinating blocks,
but you probably can get away with using fat quarters if you have those in your stash....
1 Fat Quarter of fabric for the center of each of your blocks.
Binding Fabric.
Finished size is approximately 42 inches square.. Great size I think for a baby quilt. :) What size do you usually make?
The Squares in the border are just 6.5 inch squares. You can use any type of 6.5 in block if you want to. pretty simple.. The block I used.. has (2) 2.5 x 6.5 inch strips and then (3) 2.5 inch squares pieced together for the center row... You can cheat and do a small strip pieces and cross cut those center rows if you want to make them quicker. I used 3 fat quarter strips for each colors....
This time I had fun with my quilting... I wanted to do some practicing..so I did a meandering stitch in the center around all the vehicles and then in the Blue blocks I did a wonky square..in the Red blocks I did a pebble stitch and in the Green I did a crisscross. All using my free motion quilting foot. No precision quilting..just fun free motion. *giggle*
Here's a pix of the close up...
It's not percise quilting but a baby quilt is so well LOVED that I am not too worried about it... I did a machine binding edge for extra reinforcement...
Here's a pix of the back
| Couldn't resist piecing the back for a Square like the front border.. *wink*. |
And you can really see all the quilting on this blue flannel.. :)
Fun Quilt... I enjoy making it... I am putting it in the washing next so it can get cuddly soft. I used Warm & Natural batting and Flannel on the back so it should be super warm too... Fun Sewing Day and a much needed day of relaxing at the machine :)
I've made a few baby quilts in the past... similiar but with a little variation..You can check them out by clicking HERE if your interested in more baby quilt inspiration.
Till Next Time....

That turned out really cute, Christine!! :)
Ohhh, I love this! Also love the quilting and what a cool idea for the backing! I do lots of baby quilts and have a couple of patterns that I often use (my old standbys). Now I have another one - Thanks for sharing! ~Jeanne
Your baby quilts are adorable - love the way you've quilted them as well as your backing!
