Flickr Me Crazy

Well, I haven't been working on any big projects yet... Which is okay... I am enjoying working on some fun little quick projects... sometimes you need to have instant gratification.  Plus we've been gone a lot camping and leaving again to go camping some more. :) so  I'll have pictures soon.  I'm taking my camera this time, we are off to a new area...never been to this site before..so we'll se how it goes.

But in the mean time in between washing laundry and repacking.. I made a couple little Angel packages for the Modernista Homemade swap I participated in. Two wonderful gals have been waiting a long time for their partners to send something and it looks like they were let down, hopefully their partners are okay and not dealing with anything horrible....but I was excited to be able to help out.. for the small items at least.... I had two hoot hoot owls on my bench that I can always make a few more..these are fun little critters and then I put together a pouch from some of my left over fabric from a different swap.. and to complete the other package I cut up some fat quarters from my stash and included one of my scissor charms.  I hate to hear that someone wasn't recieving a project from their original partner so I was happy that I could help out.

I also have a Scrappy Mug Rug Swap that I am participating in and here's the Mug Rug that I made for my partner.  She likes Russian dolls, so I had to go online and do a little creative research and creative tracing to get a pattern for her mug rug.  I love how it turned out.  this was my first time doing some hand stitching that was in a picture type setting.. I hope that she doesn't mind the crazy way I did her hair..*wink*  I didn't know exactly the best way to do it...so I did some freestyle stitching...*giggle*.   I also made here a little pin cushion with the left overs from the backing.  This is also my first time sharing my applique with someone...

The Front

and the Back...
Well, will share some camping pictures when I get back...Going up to an area by Chinook Pass...will be beautiful I just know it!

New Bee at Work

I am excited... Via WORK.. I get to participate in a Quilting Bee that makes quilts and donates them to various organizations around Tacoma. The group meets once a month at lunch time.. and this is the first month that I get to go to the group meeting.   I usually am always out with a field crew..I don't always get to be at the right place at the right time... but...I think the stars are going to align correctly for me this week!!!! and I am PRETTY Darn excited about it.

This month the group is working on two quilts one for a girl and one for a boy.   I needed to make 4 blocks with Pink and White fabric and 4 blocks with blue and white.  I couldn't resist using a block pattern that we just used in my Wee Bee Learning Flickr Bee.   Last month Nita had us making Churn Dashes...she used Reproduction prints with white background and it's going to look fabulous.. I sense it *giggle*  I didn't use reproduction prints..but I like how mine turned out....

The Churn Dash (aka ShooFly or Monkey Wrench) is a classic simple and Easy to make block.

Here's my four Pink Blocks....

Here's my four Blue Blocks...

And Here's the Link (CLICK HERE) to the tutorial that Nita shared with us.   The only thing that I did different..and it is just to make it easier for me to square up my Half Square Triangle blocks..is.... I made the all of the 4 7/8inch blocks that the pattern has you cut into 5 inches and then squared them up to 4.5 after sewing and pressing them open.    I just find it easier to do HST's that way the little extra helps when I goof up on sewing down the center line I draw... That's just me...you can do your's anyway you like *wink*

Will let ya know how all the other blocks look and hopefully will get to share a picture with you of them all together REAL SOON!.

Hugs,

***updated 8/15/12 6pm....the stars misaligned at the last minute today...due to a worksite job change.. BUMMER.....ended up being a good 35 minutes away from the meeting at the meeting time...but did manage to get the blocks to my SIL to turn in for me... we happen to have to drive by where she was working....so I snuck them into her Topless JEEP.. *wink*.   Hopefully I will get to go NEXT month...

LuCKY Me & Swap Blocks

Well we just got back from a wonderful 5 day vacation and it was AWESOME!  We floated down the Wenatchee river on river tubes for 3 of the 5 days... What a great time... will post pictures soon... But I have to share my Quilting goodies with ya first.

FIRST... The Modernista HomeMade swap on Flickr has been an wonderful experience.  Waiting for me when I got home was a wonderful package from my newest FLICKR friend.. saq2332.. She made me a wonderful mini to match my sewing machine cover... and A WHOLE Lot of Extras...
Doesn't it match my machine cover perfectly!!!!

Here's a close up of all those extras!

I love ALL OF IT!!!!  I was nearly jumping up and down when I opened it up... I had seen her posting when she was making it and had my fingers and toes crossed that it was for me..hahaha... and it WAS!!!

Tonight I got my room all picked up so I could show you how it's all coming together in my sewing room.  I am going to repaint my walls this Fall when it's raining out...but I haven't decided exactly on a color... I think the fatquarters pictured above are going to be used to redecorate my Ruler Storage board..
Will be Bright and Cheery!!!

And tonight after getting my room all cleaned up I was inspired to work on my Wee Bee Learning Blocks!

Here's Jackie's Block the Greek Cross
I had to use my Little Quilt Stand... :) Great way to showcase those 12.5 inch blocks.

I know I will be making this quilt in the future.. I really liked how easy it went together and how it looks in a finished quilt.  Here's the Link she shared with us for the tutorial   CLICK HERE she found this tut at Fresh Lemon Quilts... one of my favorite blogs *giggle*

and
Here's Rita's Blocks.. to be used in a Postage Stamp Quilt
We made (4) 6.5 inch blocks for her, so that she can mix up all of our different scrappy blocks to make 12.5 inch blocks and then combine them into a quilt.  I can't wait to see her finished quilt.
Here's a link to the tutorial that she wrote up on how to make your own postage stamp quilt.

I am really enjoying participating in the Wee Bee Learning Flickr Quilt Block Swap... I look forward to my months coming up.. October and December are my months for the different groups... I'll be writing up some tutorials and I will share them with all of you too. *wink*

I also received my Wonky Bee Block kit and I will be working on that Tomorrow night hopefully *giggle*  That is if I am not out in the yard since it will be cooler. *wink*

Hugs to you all and I am glad to be back in the sewing cave...
The monster was hiding for a bit, but now it's out of the closet again...*evil giggle*
